Five of us are on our way to Chicago, Illinois to present feminist Finnish comics! We are kindly invited to CAKE Chicago (Chicago Alternative Comics Expo) by the fantastic Ladydrawers Comics Collective, with whom we are also organising a research project on comics, gender and income. Our team this time consists of Taina Hakala, Anna Kankaanpää, Hanna-Pirita Lehkonen, Johanna Rojola and Aino Sutinen.

June 4th. You can find us at Ladydrawers’ happening ”How to Draw Comics the Ladydrawers Way” in Women & Children First Bookstore 6PM – 9PM.

June 6th–7th. We are presenting our artwork at CAKE Chicago, Center On Halsted. Table 54 Open 11 am – 6 pm

June 7th. We are having a Pop Up Sketchbook and Grassroot Comics Workshop at Comfort Station.

PS. About the name

Feministinen sarjakuvatoiminta (Feminist comics action), or FEMSKT, goes by a few different names, also on different social media platforms. This time we adobted the name Femicomix Finland for our travel purposes. We know that all this can be a bit confusing, also as Finnish words tend to be looooong.
